Nearly, I got a Creative sound card. The model is CT4790. It is an OEM product to IBM/DELL computers, etc. And this model was provided to North America only. I think that the quality is better than the products provided to Asia.
It equals to Creative PCI512 which is on sell. The main chip is EMU10K1-NEF(Strange, in my mind, the main chip model should be EDF, the difference is 0.35mm and 0.25mm). You know, EMU10K1 is the heart of Sound Blast Live! (The super star of Creative Labs in 1998).
I like classical things.
Fortunately, I can install any drivers or applications designed for SB Live! only on this sound card. But…
What’s a pity that the Creative offical drivers cannot provide full functions and good enough timbre to us.
But again…, there are two favor third part drivers: YouP PAX Driver and kX Driver.
YouP PAX is a large software package, it provide a set of compatible softwares to SB Live! cards based on the latest applications and drivers provided by Creative Labs. The latest applications and drivers provided by Creative Labs means the things even for X-Fi Serials. It is a nice gift that you can find that your old SB Live! can run some programs of X-Fi. kX Driver is a very professional driver. It focus on the timbre and full functions of EMU10Kx chips. The following features are either fully supported or partially supported in the latest release of the kX Audio Driver:
